What is Structural Integration and how does it work?

Structural Integration is a deep yet respectful form of manual bodywork that supports the body in rediscovering balance, alignment and freedom of movement.

The method is grounded in a fundamental principle: our body exists in constant relationship with gravity, and this relationship shapes our posture, functionality and general wellbeing.

At the heart of this work is the fascia — the connective tissue that envelops and connects every part of the body. Fascia is often described as the organ of structure.

As Dr Ida Rolf said: "The form of your body reflects the form of your being."

Stress, poor posture, intense physical experiences, habitual patterns, diet and recurring inflammatory states all influence the fascia, giving rise to tension, disorganisation and misalignment. This affects not only movement, but also our physical, emotional and mental state.

The Rolfing® method, or the Ida P. Rolf Method, combines manual work with movement awareness to explore the body's alignment and functionality.

Through the release of fascial restrictions, the body can return to its structurally optimal position. Many clients report improved posture, greater joint mobility, more energy and a deep sense of balance between body and mind.

Two approaches to restoring harmony in the body

🔹 Structural Approach

The body is enveloped by a three-dimensional fascial network that connects muscles, bones, nerves, organs and blood vessels.
When tension accumulates in one area, the entire system is affected.

Through precise, attentive touch, restrictions are released and the tissues are supported in returning to their natural, healthy state.

This restores verticality, balance and fluidity of movement — often accompanied by lightness, calm and emotional ease.
The body realigns — and so does the mind.

It is worth knowing that discomfort does not always originate where it is felt: a stiff neck may stem from an old ankle injury or from tension held in the lower back.

🔹 Functional Approach

This dimension invites you to move differently — with greater awareness, fluidity and alignment with gravity.
It is not about performance, but about integrating the body with itself.
Movement becomes natural, effort dissolves, and the body returns to being an ally rather than an obstacle.

How does the journey unfold?

The standard series comprises 10 individual sessions of approximately 90 minutes each, every 1–2 weeks.
Each session focuses on a specific area of the body, always within a holistic framework.
After the 10 sessions, the body continues to integrate the work.
Three integration sessions are recommended after 4–6 months to consolidate and deepen the results.
